The family is the fundamental social unit; it is the primary location of joint worship, work, and existence. According to the Bible, it is headed and governed by a man and consists of the man and his wife, as well as those under his care: his wife, who serves as his assistant; his children; and any aged or displaced people for whom God has given him responsibility. A father, helped by his wife, is responsible for leading, training, and disciplining his children according to the concepts and methods outlined in the Bible.
We realize that, as a result of death and sin, some families have only one parent, who must, by God's grace, serve as both father and mother to their children.
